Happy Thursday Everypony!

Novel Idea here with a very special surprise for you! As many of you know, last Saturday, October 23, was Fallout Day! (October 23, 2077 was the day the bombs fell in the Fallout Universe). Well, we didn't want to let this special day pass without something for you. So now, we are very proud to present the next two Environment Preview Trailers for Gardens of Equestria: This Coming Storm!

Before we get to that, though, I have a special announcement!

The Manehattan Project is currently looking for a few good folks to come and help us! In particular, we're looking for the following positions:

  • Musicians (specifically orchestral in the same style you've heard in our trailers)
  • 2D Texture Artists
  • Vector Artists

If you're interested in becoming a part of The Manehattan Project, creating an epic game and having something truly awesome to put on your portfolio, please let us know at our Recruitment Center!

Now, we have a new piece of art for you! Another gem by Blue Nova, this is the official artwork for everypony's favorite breakfast cereal: Sugar Apple Bombs!

sab-clean

This one was fun. Blue and I had a long discussion/argument about who should be featured on the poster. Originally, it was going to be Pinkie or AJ, but they just didn't work for a multitude of reasons. So finally, we decided we needed an Apple on there! We played around with the idea of Babs Seed, but since I don't think her fate has ever been covered in FO:E (or even mentioned, since she appeared after the 'canon lock'), we decided to go with everypony's favorite Appleloosan Resident: Braeburn!

Now seriously, how epic did Blue do on this? Details as fine as the shape of the cereal pieces? And by the way, yes that is indeed the box you'll be seeing in This Coming Storm!

Now, onto the mane event!

I am delighted to announce that this is the debut of our new Cinematics Lead, Scarlet Moon. A talented mare with years of experience working cinematographic magic, Scarlet Moon was simply critical in putting these together. I know they look similar to the previous ones, but they are indeed quite different. While I did the game capture and we used the intro and outro I had designed for the previous trailers, she did all the editing and clipping, including working Corvus's wonderful music into the pieces!

First, we have the GoE: This Coming Storm Environment Preview Trailer #3.

In this special preview trailer, you'll get a sneak peek at the Stable 207 Living Quarters as well as the brand new version of Appleloosa Valley!

Stable 207 Living Quarters is a vast complex containing an apartment for the Courier as well as rooms for Littlepip, Velvet Remedy, Calamity and Steelhooves. Use it as your base of operations as you put an end to the threat against all reality! Plus, you'll get pictures of the new and improved Appleloosa Valley, carefully reconstructed and expanded for maximum epic output! This is most likely what you will end up seeing in the final game folks!

Finally, we have GoE: This Coming Storm Environment Preview Trailer #4.

In this special preview trailer, you'll get a sneak peek at the new exterior of the Rock Farm, as well as the sprawling Sector 2 - Administration Wing, the Security Bunker player home and a sneak peek at the top-secret Sector 3 - Labs!

That's right folks. For the very first time, you get a tiny glimpse at the Sector 3 - Labs. What you're seeing is the Pegasus Rifle Testing Range and the "Soft Words" Testing Facility, as well as the Sector 3 - Level D Utility Control breakroom and control room! I've kept Sector 3 under tight wraps because it's going to be a shocker at just what's waiting for you within, but I decided it can't hurt to show you a little, eh?

Well, that's it for this month folks from The Manehattan Project! Within the next couple weeks, we hope to have a major announcement where you might get a chance to meet us in person if you happen to be going to a particular convention! (How's that hype train coming?)

Now a tiny little bit just from Novel!

As some of you know, I've been writing a brand-new series of MLP stories available on FimFiction. My fourth story, The Cloudsdale Report just went live last week and managed to climb its way to the #3 spot in the Featured Box for four and a half days! If you haven't had a chance to check out these stories, go read them! I think they're pretty good (and apparently, some people actually agree with me! How weird is that?).

Until next time, this has been Novel Idea, have fun and stay safe out there!

Happy Thursday everypony!

You know the annoying thing about working on the Gateway Research Facility? I've got all this totally awesome stuff I can't show you! While you may think this is me just teasing you, it's honestly frustrating! I'm really proud of the design of this place, but since it's the grand finale of This Coming Storm...I just can't reveal it until launch. It would be like revealing the end of any big video game. After all...

no spoilers

Gah. Extremely frustrating. The consequence, of course, is that I don't have a lot to show you at present, at least in the way of new stuff. Other surprises are in the works, but I want a day-one reveal of it, meaning you can experience those surprises the moment we announce them.

We do way too much behind the scenes. Grrrrr...

So instead, I'm unlocking a part of Stable 207 you haven't seen before!

Stable 207 is (currently) divided into several different sections. There's Auxiliary Support A, Auxiliary Support B, Main Level, the Living Quarters, the Com Tower and the Com Tower Exterior. You've all seen the Main Level (it's very close to what we first revealed in our Teaser Trailer and two weeks ago we gave you a little sneak peak at the Living Quarters.

Today, you get to see something different.

The Com Tower.

The Communications Tower of Stable 207 is built directly into the mountainside with an enormous platform jutting from the rock under the shadow of Stable 207's powerful satellite arrays. A massive column of arcano-tech conduits and spark generators dominates the center space of this advanced section of the facility. Ringed by numerous catwalks, utility access corridors and storerooms, the communications tower of Stable 207 rivals the complexity and capability of the MAS Emergency Broadcast System hub in Tenpony Tower. It is from here that DJ-PON3 tweaks and adjusts the signals from his sources across the Wasteland, giving tips and saving lives as far as his voice can reach.

For those of you who remember, there's a unique level within the Fallout 3 DLC Broken Steel. It's your first mission--where you see the fate of Liberty Prime--and you take out an Enclave bunker. This chaotic encounter was one of the few places in Fallout where you had vertical-based combat in a tower structure (and you also did it with a team of Knights) However, even that was only four stories high.

The Com Tower is twelve stories high. And it's all visible and accessible from the start.

What's worse...your enemy has the high ground. That's right, you'll be fighting up the massive superstructure of the Com Tower.

You'll be racing against time to stop the nefarious invader's plan for Stable 207 that would silence DJ-PON3 forever...and cost you and your friends your lives. You'll fight through hijacked security systems, hardened shock troopers, lethal tech analysts and much, much more. And at the top of Stable 207, you'll be dealing with the deadly Lieutenant Colonel Windfury. And he's not alone.

Because he called in air support to help take you down.

Without further ado, I give you the Stable 207 Com Tower!

Now, as for a personal note, as I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, I'm also doing Cover Art for various FiMFiction stories. I've sent them off to the authors and most of them have decided they liked them! So go check out the stories.

Happy Thursday everypony!

Novel here with something cool for you today. As I mentioned in our announcement for the Security Redoubt, there are actually two available player homes. Well, today, you get a peek at the second.

Now, I’m not going to show you everything. The Living Quarters for Stable 207 is huge and a bunch of screenshots just doesn’t do it justice. But I just can’t wait to show this off anymore! So let’s sit down, sit back and enjoy the ride!

As you know, Stable 207 was designed to be the Stable-Tec communications hub in the post-apocalyptic world. Hardline network connections spanned the country from the nexus point of Stable 207. It was supposed to be the origin for new civilization after the end. The catch was that it wasn’t finished in time. In fact, most of the living quarters weren’t complete. Only the Overmare’s quarters was ever completed, designed for the Overmare and her direct family members.

And since DJ-PON3 has made her living quarters far closer to the communication hub on the Stable’s main level, he’s graciously decided to grant you this as a base of operations for your heroics after saving Stable 207 from an invading army!

20160422231312_1

The Overmare’s personal quarters are massive, including a small library, dining area, bedchamber, sitting area and private bathroom. Lavishly decorated with custom imported rugs, a series of posters from some of Equestria’s greatest entertainers and a spectacular view of the immense cavern system Stable 207 was built into.

20160422231334_1

From your secluded reading spot, you can enjoy the latest copy of the Wasteland Survival Guide by Ditzy Doo in total privacy and comfort, looking out into the darkness at the dozens of varieties of glowing fungi in the caves beyond. A view unlike any other, it’s as if you’re staring into the star-scattered void of space from your own private library!

20160422231836_1

Entertainment galore awaits you in the lower level of the Living Quarters atrium. Filled with networked terminals, games and support systems, all tastefully decorated with native living plants and well-preserved post-war artwork. The atrium is the heart of the living quarters, being the gateway to every section of this amazing complex!

20160422231415_1

But what of your companions? After all, your aren’t alone in your quest to unravel the mysteries in the strange reality shifts. Don’t worry, there’s room enough for all in the Living Quarters. As fate* would have it, there are five smaller living quarters, one for each companion plus one extra, all with tailored decor, a private bath and fully furnished!

*Fate may be acting upon the design instructions of others.

20160422231614_1

The Wasteland is a dangerous place and Stable-Tec had the foresight to know that. DJ-PON3 has done his part as well, making sure that Stable 207 has a fully stocked and prepared armory. From here, you’ll be able to arm yourself for the greatest battle of your life as you fight to stop dark forces from taking control of the source of the reality distortions.

That’s it for this week folks. But I am going to tease one more thing.

There is something massive happening right now in the MLP fandom gaming community. Something that has the potential to unite all gamers, modders, game devs and everyone else. Manehattan will be there and we’ve already led the charge, but all the pieces are not in place.

But it’s huge. You’ll love it. ^^

Good Thursday to you all!

Novel Idea here with your weekly GoE update! Today, we’ve got something special. While we’re keeping a vast majority of the immense Rock Farm under wraps until launch, I’ve decided that you should get to see one particular part of it…the Security Redoubt 43-A, better known as the Rock Farm Security Bunker!

The command center of Security Redoubt 43-A

The command center of Security Redoubt 43-A

Each major MWT installation had some sort of security bunker on or near the premises. These Redoubts were designed as a command and control point for Equestria’s military forces if one of the Princesses or Ministry Mares was caught in one of the facilities during a major crisis. Sadly, none of these individuals were at a MWT facility when the bombs fell. As such, bunkers such as the one in the Rock Farm remained uninhabited. While many of these places fell into disrepair as their associated facilities failed, the Rock Farm was unique. 43-A remained in fully operational status, though the communication lines, which were designed to go through the unfinished Stable 207 nearby, were never connected into Equestria’s military network.

Bunker Primary Access 1

Bunker Primary Access 1

As with all MWT Redoubts, the Security Bunker is outfitted with some of the most advanced technology developed at the Rock Farm, including a small dormitory, CO’s quarters, a dining mess and storage facilities.

Bunker Dorm 2

CO's Quarters

Bunker CO Quarters

Due to the Rock Farm’s liaison work with the Ministry of Peace, the Bunker was also outfitted with the powerful Autonomous Healing Booth Mark III and a fully stocked medical bay. This healing booth not only can entirely heal a body of radiation and crippling injuries, but even had the full cosmetic subroutines unlocked for reasons that are still not entirely clear.

Finally, no security bunker would be complete without a fully outfitted armory, complete with an Exchange Terminal tied directly into the Rock Farm’s arcano-tech fabrication grid. Through this device, anyone using the bunker will be able to buy and sell items as they would with any vendor.*

*(Please note that the MWT is aware of the current flaw in the Exchange Terminals that allows for bottlecaps to be used instead of requisition tokens. Exchange Terminal Mark IIs will rectify this design oversight. Any personnel found using bottlecaps instead of the proper currency will be required to pay the full amount in addition to a week’s pay. Repeated offenses may result in further disciplinary action up to and including termination and/or military sanction.)

Now that the tour is complete, let me tell you why I’m showing this to you! As you likely may have guessed, this is indeed one of two player housing locations available to you in GoE: This Coming Storm! Both the Security Redoubt 43-A and Stable 207 will be available as player homes. The Security Redoubt will also include a teleportation matrix talisman, allowing the player to return there at any time. From here, you’ll also be able to explore most of the Rock Farm if you happened to miss something inside. You’ll also find powerful upgrades for all of your companions within, provided as the spoils of war for helping end the threat located deep with the Maneframe Nexus of the Rock Farm, as well as special equipment for you and you alone.

Bunker War Room 2

Surface Access Bay 1

Two last things. The first you may have missed above…but we now have healing potions in-game! That’s right! The mysterious changes have even swept through the medical supplies of the wasteland, turning all stimpacks into the familiar glowing healing potion we’ve come to know and love! (The Super Stimpacks haven’t yet changed…but rumor is that they will…)

Healing Potions

Now with a special strawberry and carrot taste!

And finally, some of you may notice a couple things. First of all, why does the Bunker look so different from the rest of the Rock Farm? Secondly, doesn’t the War Room look somewhat familiar? Well, all Security Redoubts were built with the same general design schematics, while each of the associated facilities were designed to the needs of the facility. So it’s not unusual for a Security Redoubt to have a different design aesthetic.

But you likely know the real reason.

The original bridge of the EHS Nimbus

The bridge of the EHS Nimbus from the original storyline of Gardens of Equestria

That’s right folks…the reason the War Room looks so familiar is that it is indeed the bridge of the EHS Nimbus, back before GoE became GoE: This Coming Storm. I was very sad when this epic mission and epic ship got cut for time, so I decided that it needed to live on in some way. And considering how this was originally designed as the Enclave command center from Fallout 3, the idea just fell into place! So the Nimbus lives on in GoE, though in an underground, non-Enclave way…though the whole non-Enclave thing will change the moment you step outside of the Bunker!

A few other things to check out: we now have the Ministry of Peace and Steel Ranger Recruitment posters live and in the game, along with a brand-new MWT Master Control Console. We’ve also designed a MoP Master Control Console and are in the process of creating a MAS variant as well. (Bonus points if you can find the little “easter egg” in the MWT Control Console. 😉 )

That’s it for this week folks. I hope you’ve enjoyed your preview at the Security Redoubt 43-A…the Rock Farm Security Bunker, your rewarding for fighting through the harrowing depths of Installation 043 and making it through to the other side. But don’t worry, there’s still much more to come.

So we’ll see you next week!

—From the Desk of Novel Idea—

[[WARNING: FOURTH WALL BREACH DETECTED]]

You’ll have to excuse the broken fourth wall. I’ve spent all week slaving away on GoE.com V2.0 and have not gotten nearly amount of sleep I should have, so I haven’t gotten to fixing it. But today, all that effort has finally born fruit.

Fillies and colts, welcome to Gardens of Equestria Version 2.0!

This day has been months in the works. I’ve designed an all-new series of special logos, artwork and much more for this new site. But there are a couple things you should know.

First of all, we flipped the switch on this new site around midnight last night. As such, there’s a system called DNS servers (which you may or may not be familiar with) that are occasionally kicking folks back to the old site. If you see the old design, just click the back button or try again later. Any of these issues should be resolved by Saturday.

Second, there’s still a bit of fine-tuning left in the site, specifically on the graphics on the new Locations page. Don’t worry, I’ll be fixing that within the next day or two.

But most importantly, if you’re interested in seeing what’s next for GoE and the Manehattan Project and want to keep appraised of what’s going on, head over to our brand-new forums and register! Drop by the general discussion page and introduce yourself!

While I’ve posted in the forums about our new features, I’ll also give you them right here!

We’re just getting started here, so mind the dust. Please, take a look around and don’t be shy.

Here’s some of the highlights of the new features of our revised website:

That’s right folks, we’re also releasing the MP3 version of Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition) today along with the first three parts of Fallout: Equestria on YouTube!

So keep a close eye on things. Because we’ve got much more in store!

We also have a lot more announcements, including some new team member and some final casting decisions. But we’ll be exploring that next week. If you’re interested in getting to know a little bit more about the folks behind The Manehattan Project, check out our staff page!

–From the Terminal of Novel Idea–

Note: Minor update completed with fixed album art and it should show Kkat’s name as the author instead of Crazed Rambling.

Good day, mares and gentlestallions!

Novel Idea here with some exciting news. But before we get to that, we’re doing an official call out to any and all musicians who would like to have their music featured in “Gardens of Equestria: This Coming Storm & Racing Apotheosis!” Remember, we’re looking not only for Fallout: Equestria-style music, but a little bit of everything! From dance beats to blues, from electronica to country, we want your material!

We’re also still interested in anypony out there with experience in modding, level design and texture art! We’re also looking for some female voice actresses to fill some roles as well. If you’re interested in joining the Manehattan Project, head over to our Recruitment Center and let us know!

Now onto the mane event!

The day many of you have been waiting for is finally here! That’s right, the completely remastered deluxe audiobook of Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition) by Kkat is now available!

Now, I’m sure plenty of you will head down immediately and grab the file. For those of you who are still with me, I want to take a few moments to tell you just what went into this.

First of all, our Master of Music, Corvus, has been working on this for months. You see, he’s not just going to be the voice of DJ-PON3 and the creator of the fantastic “Smuggler’s Run Theme,” he’s also a master audio producer. It is his brilliance and devotion to the best possible listening experience that made this possible. He went through each chapter with unique software to make sure it was up to scratch (pun intended). The reason it took so long to get this out to you is because the software took that long to actually process this sixty-two hour behemoth!

But that’s not all. We here at the Manehattan Project applaud Crazed Rambling for being the only narrator to tackle Fallout: Equestria. We wanted to make his work even better. So not only do you have the chapter headings, quotes and footnotes done by yours truly, but you also have a newly edited version! That’s right, we removed many of the audio errors and even found a few missing lines and fixed those too!

Lastly, Corvus decided to put himself on the spot and write a full song to the beloved number that’s so frequently referenced in Fallout: Equestria. While the song was never given a title, we’ve taken to calling it “This Coming Storm.” Better known as Steelhooves and Applejack’s song, Corvus has crafted a new song based on and inspired by that original masterpiece. In fact, we’re be releasing this song today for all to listen to outside the audiobook and we’ll be featuring it on DJ-PON3’s radio station in “Gardens of Equestria: This Coming Storm!”

While there’s still a few things here and there that need fixing, we just couldn’t wait any longer to get this out to you. So please, click the link below and download the newly remastered version of “Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition)!”

FOE Manehattan Ultimate Book Cover FINAL

In the coming weeks, we’ll be releasing the audiobook on YouTube as well, along with MLP Audiobooks and a few other locations!

You’d think that announcement would be enough, but guess what? We’ve got even more exciting news. First of all, “Smuggler’s Run” (which has been updated to Version 1.8, so make sure to download the latest fixes!) has reached over 120 endorsements, 2,000 unique downloads and almost 30,000 page views. That is amazing. If you’re one of the few who haven’t checked out our preview experience for “This Coming Storm,” head over to the Nexus and download it today!

With this influx of attention, the Manehattan Project has blossomed with new talent! We are proud to welcome FancyCat, the creator of the original “Wild Pegasus Whiskey” design from the original Stable-Tec experience, “Fallout 3!” We are also joined by Wolfie, who will be doing a multitude of custom models, including true statuettes of the Ministry Mares for you to collect throughout “This Coming Storm!” We’re also joined by Poprocks–the designer of the other Sparkle-Cola mod–who will be joining yours truly in perfecting and designing the levels you’ll soon be battling through! Finally, we have KangarooSwag, who’s also joining us as a modeling master, having done several unique and completely epic weapon and armor designs.

We’ll be going deeper into our new team members in a future post and give you a chance to get to know them better!

There’s plenty more to share with you…but I’d rather just show you!

The following material is a selection of just some of what we have in store for you in “Gardens of Equestria: This Coming Storm.” Please note that we are still deep in development and all of this is subject to change. But all of us here are just so thrilled with the progress, we had to give you a sneak peek.

[Sneak Peek removed from post due to website change]

We’re hard at work making this project a reality and trust me when I say you have a lot to be excited for!

Until next week, have fun and stay safe out there!

–From the Terminal of Polyphonic–

Fillies and gentlecolts, welcome to the first of many updates on the Manehattan Project: Gardens of Equestria! Today we have some exciting announcements, including photos of several locations in the project, the introduction of the first Manehattan Project member sourced from the public, and an update on our recruitment program! Please sit back and enjoy another sneak peek of Gardens of Equestria.

Stable 16

Stable 16 is a defunct Stable located deep within the southern hills of Appleloosa Valley. While the Stable’s population survived and thrived, they eventually moved on, leaving the Stable unattended. Without proper upkeep, a Stable’s usually reliable lighting systems grow dim and eerie, and even metal and stone rust and crumble. A few too many disasters–natural or unnatural–can put serious strain on a Stable’s infrastructure, rendering it all but unlivable for anyone but the most undiscriminating of the Wasteland’s inhabitants. But something has moved into the Stable in recent years…

Mysterious Cave

One of the first things you encounter in Gardens of Equestria, this strange place seems to be some sort of rift in reality. The enigmas of this cave are too cryptic for even Stable-Tec to fully decipher, but those with expansive knowledge of the Wasteland might be able to speculate…

The Rock Farm – Sector 1

Deep in the desert around New Pegasus was an underground complex known only as “The Rock Farm.” A closely-guarded secret of the Ministry of Wartime Technology, the Rock Farm was home to some of the most advanced armor and weapon collaborations between the Ministry of Arcane Sciences and the MWT. Nopony knows exactly what happened to the original inhabitants of the Rock Farm, but those Wastelanders attempting to gain access–the ones who survive the attempt, anyway–speak of an advanced and deadly network of turrets, sentry bots, and other defenses among the bones. Stable-Tec has managed to pull some archival photography from its initial construction, but after so many years, nopony knows what may lurk at the heart of the Farm.

Introducing Corvus!

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The Manehattan Project is thrilled to introduce its newest member, Corvus, a talented musician with a voice that’s a dead ringer for… well, listen for yourself!

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/207701609″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]

We’re excited to have Corvus on board as we plan out the musical, atmospheric, and broadcasting needs of Gardens of Equestria. Please give him a warm Pony welcome in the comments! If you’re interested in seeing more of his work, please head over to his personal profile.

Recruitment

Last but certainly not least, the entire team of the Manehattan Project would like to extend an invitation to a few talented individuals who can fill our most urgently needed roles. Please visit the Manehattan Project Recruitment Center to get in touch with us if you have an interest in the following! As always, we’re always looking for more talent in all arenas, but the areas listed below are where our needs are most urgent.

  • Social Media/PR Coordinator: Is your Reddit dashboard always full of collapsed threads? Do you know what Equestria Daily is going to post about before they do? Could you have written a catchier progress update than the one you just read? The Manehattan Project is looking for someone to take the reins on social media and public relations to take the work of getting the word out off the shoulders of our artists and developers so they can get back to working on the mod. Please include a sample of your writing with your application. This can be anything from a page of the last paper you wrote to a link to the blog you’ve been keeping for years – just give us an idea of your writing style and competencies.
  • Webmaster: We’re in need of an individual with strong HTML5/CSS, JavaScript, and related skills for developing and maintaining Gardens of Equestria’s web presence. With your application, please include a link to a page you’ve built and your thoughts on improving gardensofequestria.com.
  • Modeler/Texture Artist: We’re in need of an additional artist to help adjust some of our existing models and work on some exciting new elements of GoE. Familiarity with GECK/TES Construction Sets and .nif files preferred. Please include a sample of your work.
  • Junior Scripter: Our primary scripters and tech designers have their hooves full. The individual best suited to this role is someone with experience creating quest and actor content in Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, or The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but need not be an expert code wizard. Please include a sample or detailed description of the content you’ve created in the past along with your application.

Thank you all for joining us, and stay tuned for our next update: Voice Actor Roundtable!

–WARNING: FOURTH WALL BREAK DETECTED–

Welcome back to the Manehattan Project!

I hope you’ll forgive the break in the Fourth Wall. So many of you have come by to check out Gardens of Equestria…well, let’s just say we should have done a better job of shoring that thing up. But we’ll leave that for next week. Instead, I’m going to give you a peek at what’s going on behind the scenes of the Manehattan Project and Gardens of Equestria.

FOE Manehattan YouTube Logo

Before we go any further, if you haven’t already seen it, we’ve started to release “Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition)” on YouTube! Today we’re starting out small with the Introduction, the Prologue and Chapter 1: Out of the Stable. We’ve done some special custom artwork for this YouTube release, so go check it out! We’ll be releasing 3 chapters a week starting next week, so make sure to subscribe to either GardensofEquestria.com or our YouTube Channel to stay in the loop!

In today’s development blog, we’ll talk a little about some of the in-development areas for Gardens of Equestria and give you some cool screenshots of things we have in store for you. You won’t be disappointed. But first, I realized that I forgot something very important when it came to designing this website. A Frequently Asked Questions page!

We’ve had a lot of questions come over our various announcement channels. So let’s take a few minutes to answer some of them!

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s the story behind Gardens of Equestria?
    • It tells a unique tale of the Mojave Wasteland partially merged with Equestrian as familiar heroes from Fallout: Equestria appear in another form in our world. Something has gone terribly wrong and it’s up to you as the Courier to figure out what happened and how to stop it.
  • Will I be playing as a human or a pony?
    • You’ll be playing as a human. While GoE will support the New Vegas Pony Anthro Mod (as do most other mods), we are not including it as part of the package. That being said, humans aren’t the only sentient race you will encounter in your adventures. And that’s all we’re saying about that. ^^
  • What do I need to play GoE?
    • GoE will require a current and legitimate copy of Fallout: New Vegas. It will also require the DLC “Old World Blues.” While we recommend having the full DLC package, only “Old World Blues” is essential due to its many unique assets. (Note: This may change during development. If it does, we’ll keep you apprised)
    • In addition, you will need to have the mods “Fallout Character Overhaul” and  “Mikoto Hair Pack.” Normally these mods have compatibility issues, but we’ve managed to come up with a solution to that, so don’t worry.
  • What about Fallout 4?
    • As of this writing, Fallout 4 is only a rumor. While we hope to port the GoE experience to Fallout 4 (whenever it is released), there are many factors in play. A fair amount of the game is based off of JHawk1666’s Pony Texture Pack Plus for Fallout 3. How much of that will translate to Fallout 4 is unknown. That being said, if it’s possible and feasible to bring Gardens of Equestria to Fallout 4, we will do it, though the story will likely end up being different and will likely take longer.
  • What about Fallout 3?
    • Fallout 3 was originally released in 2008. While still an awesome game (that we highly recommend playing), there are some substantial differences between New Vegas and Fallout 3. We may release our weapons and texture packs for Fallout 3 at a later date.
  • Isn’t Overmare Studios already doing this?
    • From my understanding, Overmare Studios started out originally as a Fallout mod project, but then decided to move to the Unity3D engine as opposed to GECK/Gamebyro engine. This gives them a huge range of options and whole new possibilites (Seriously, check out their Firearms video. It’s amazing!). They’re dedicated to turning Littlepip’s adventures into a full-fledged game in the true Equestrian Wasteland. GoE is about the world of Equestria invading the human world and the repercussions and origins of that event. While there are similarities, they are two separate projects.
  • Can I play as Littlepip?
    • The core story of Gardens of Equestria revolves around the player as the Courier, who for unique reasons, is one of the few humans that remained unaffected by the mysterious reality shift. You’ll be the one at the front of the group this time, Littlepip and her friends by your side.
  • Hey, why isn’t Littlepip wielding Little Macintosh?
    • While you can give Littlepip Little Macintosh to wield, we decided that it would be more fun for the player if they got to wield the trademark Fallout: Equestria weapons rather than leaving them solely in the hands of your companions.
  • Will I really be playing with five different companions throughout the game?
    • In Fallout: Equestria, Littlepip’s group grows over time as she discovers new allies. The same happens in Gardens of Equestria. In some missions, you will fight with one or two of your companions, while in others you’ll be fighting as a cohesive team. There will even be missions where you choose who joins you and who stays behind…and those decisions can have lasting repercussions for both you and your friends.
  • Can I also play GoE with other companions like Veronica, Arcade or even Willow?
    • The version of the companion extender we use is set to a maximum of five companions. The GoE Companions each have their own part to play in the story with their own fully-voiced dialogue. You will be unable to undergo the story missions without certain members of the GoE team. That being said, you can adventure with any combination you wish in the New Pegasus area for quests or areas that aren’t attached to the GoE storyline.
  • What about Blackjack, Glory, P-21, Puppysmiles, Silver Storm/Hired Gun, etc? Are they going to be in Gardens of Equestria?
    • At present, we do not have plans to include anyone other than the original Fallout: Equestria characters in GoE.
  • When will Gardens of Equestria be released?
    • When it’s done. The entire Manehattan Project team has full-time jobs and many have families and many other commitments. Some of us can spend more time than others. But in the end, to quote a well-known gaming company, “players won’t remember if a game is late, only if it’s great.” (Well, except for Duke Nukem, but let’s not go there
  • Will GoE be compatible with [INSERT MOD HERE]?
    • We plan to make this as compatible as possible with as many mods as possible, but of course there will be limitations. At this point in development, it’s a little early to get into more specifics

(I will be posting this as a full page next week)

Now that’s out of the way, I want to give you some screenshots from two new areas currently under development. Please note that these are still works-in-progress, so there’s a good possibility that they may change.

The first location is called “The Primm Basement.” In the quest “Strangers in a Strange Land,” you’ll journey beneath the town of Primm to an old mine and refinery plant beneath the town that was supposed to be sealed-off years ago. You’ll encounter hostile Powder Gangers here, but their attention will be focused on your first new companion, pinned down in a side room. After getting your new friend out of trouble, you’ll fight your way down into the depths of the mining facility…finding that Powder Gangers are the least of your worries as you race to save kidnapped townspeople from a new threat.

The second location is from a much later quest, “Fire From On High.” Below you’ll get a better glimpse of the bridge of the EHS Nimbus, an Enclave Hovership with a terrifying reputation. Crewed by some of the most elite and dangerous soldiers the Enclave has, you and your companions will race against a ticking clock to reach its deadly cargo before it can destroy all of New Pegasus. Right now, this is my favorite quest line, save for maybe the grand finale. What we’ll be doing here will blow your mind!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this Behind The Fourth Wall peek into the inner secrets of the Gardens of Equestria!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Fourth Wall to fix.
