Welcome to The Manehattan Project's special edition of "The Book of Littlepip," also known as "Fallout: Equestria."

This unique edition is the product of nearly a year of work from multiple sources and is the only complete and unabridged audiobook edition of Fallout: Equestria available to date.*

We at the Manehattan Project want to express our deepest thanks to Crazed Rambling for his original work on this audiobook. Without his effort of narrating a 59-hour novel, we wouldn't have this base to start from.

The first remastering was done by Sonic Radboom of the MLP Audiobook forums. Chapter titles, quotes and footnotes were added by Novel Idea. Additional narration, remastering and music were performed by Corvus, our Music & Audio Director. Version 4 Cover Art was designed by Novel Idea and Blue Nova.

Please Note: Fallout: Equestria is the only fan fiction that Equestria Daily has dubbed with the tag of [LEGENDARY]. However, it is also tagged [GRIMDARK] and definitely deserves the classification. This is not a book for children. There is a great deal of violence and other adult content. Please be aware of this before reading or listening.

And now...Fallout: Equestria, the Manehattan Edition.

Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition) on YouTube

If listening to audiobooks on YouTube is more your thing, then we've got the perfect solution for you. Our brand-new YouTube edition has all the edits and adjustments of Version 4.1 with the added cinematic effect of a Fallout 3/4-style introduction at the beginning of each chapter for that extra little touch.

Updating Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition) in iTunes

iTunes can easily become confused when you have multiple items (namely, Version 3  and Version 4.1 of the audiobook) listed under the same "album," which in this case, is the name of the audiobook.

If you are in the middle of listening to Fallout: Equestria, please make a careful note of where you are within your current chapter (not the "part" for those using the M4B format). After you've done that, use iTunes to remove the audiobook from your mobile device and delete the old version entirely from your computer and restart iTunes. Then import the new version of the audiobook. If done correctly, it should appear with the new cover art with the black background. You can then sync the new version to your mobile device.

Then you'll need to manually go to your previous location using your preferred application. If you're not familiar with scrubbing, you can find some tips and tricks on how to do it with nearly any audio app over at LifeHacker.

Preferred Listening Methods

iOS Devices:

  • Audible App: Good choice because of the "button free" control screen, sleep timer and easy bookmarks. However, chapter titles do not show up and chapters will only appear for the selected part. Note: iTunes audiobooks do not count toward badges or Audible listening times.
  • iBooks App (iOS): Correctly shows all chapters titles and times. Allows for quick fast forward and rewind at small intervals. Has a sleep timer and bookmark features. No "button free" interface.

  • Smart Audiobook Player: 4.5 Star Rating with 40K ratings. Tons of different features including notes, playback speed control, automatic pause in case you fall asleep and more. $2 for the full version of the app.

Mac OS:

  • iTunes: Standard for listening to audiobooks on a Mac. Please note that iTunes playback location intermittently will sync with a mobile device.
  • VLC: Classic industry media player for every convincible format ever.

  • iTunes: Standard for listening to audiobooks on a Mac. Please note that iTunes playback location intermittently will sync with a mobile device.
  • Windows Media Player: You may have to open the book from within WMP as the M4B file format may not be associated with it.
  • VLC: Classic industry media player for every convincible format ever.

MP3 vs. M4B

M4B is the preferred listening method for Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition). This is a special form of .M4A designed specifically for Audiobooks and allows you to bookmark different locations within the audiobook. .M4A was generally intended as the successor to the MP3 format and stands for MPEG 4 Audio. Despite how it occasionally appears in file systems, it is not in protected format (That's .M4P).

But even more importantly is the file size. Fallout: Equestria (The Manehattan Edition) clocks in at 2.89GB for the M4B version versus 4.83GB for the MP3 version.

Version 4.1 Updates

  • Repeated Lines Removed: 7 (Chapters 8, 24, 15, 21, 33, 38 & Epilogue)
  • Flubbed Lines Removed: 6 (Chapters 22, 25, 39, 40, 42, 2 in 44)
  • Removed "Footnote: Maximum Level" from Chapter 37 & remastered Chapter 37
  • Re-recorded & remastered Manehattan Edition Opening and Finale, now set to the instrumental version of "This Coming Storm" by Corvus Productions. These were designed in the style of Audible audiobooks complete with the "The Manehattan Project hopes you've enjoyed this broadcast" at the end. 😉
  • Added full vocal version of "This Coming Storm" to the end of the Epilogue, as was originally written into the novel.
  • Completely revised Cover Art by Novel Idea & Blue Nova, using the Steel Ranger from Gardens of Equestria's new Steel Ranger Recruitment poster. This will also make it easy to differentiate versions of the audiobook with the new dark background.
  • M4B version is now in 10 7-hour parts instead of 8 8-hour parts to allow for faster downloading and easier control.
  • M4B & MP3 Audiobook Chapter Titles now show properly when using iTunes or the iOS iBooks Audiobook App for iPhone and iPad.
  • MP3 version is now preconfigured to be set as an Audiobook with correct metadata (description, date, narrator, other details) and updated album art.
  • Both the MP3 Version and the M4B version are mirrored now on MediaFire and Google Drive.

*No, we didn't include Chapter 20.5. While it may be approved by Kkat, it wasn't written by Kkat and Crazed Rambling never recorded it. Sorry!
